While the sources of the news vary in<br \/>\nperspective and editorial approach, their selection for inclusion<br \/>\nis done without regard to political viewpoint or ideology. While<br \/>\nthis may lead to some occasionally unusual and contradictory<br \/>\ngroupings, it is exactly this variety that makes Google News a<br \/>\nvaluable source of information on the important issues of the<br \/>\nday.&quot; <\/p>\n<p>In other words, Google applies what it does for search to the<br \/>\nnews. The sources that appear on the news pages are<br \/>\ndiverse&#8211;today&#8217;s news featured stories ranging from small<br \/>\npublications like the <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Monterey Herald\" name=\"Monterey Herald\" id=\"Monterey Herald\" href=\"http:\/\/www.montereyherald.com\/mld\/montereyherald\/business\/10154371.htm\">Monterey County Herald<\/a> to the giant<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" title=\"NY Times\" name=\"NY Times\" id=\"NY Times\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\">New York Times<\/a> .<br \/>\nInternational sources are also well represented&#8211;have you read the<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Borneo Bulletin\" name=\"Borneo Bulletin\" id=\"Borneo Bulletin\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brunei-online.com\/bb\/thu\/nov11h35.htm\">Borneo Bulletin<\/a> lately?&nbsp; Another<br \/>\nuseful Google news feature;it groups coverage on a particular<br \/>\nstory, so if you want to see another paper&#8217;s take on an issue, it&#8217;s<br \/>\nas easy as viewing one of the umpteen related links. It&#8217;s a<br \/>\npost-modern paradise.<\/p>\n<p>I am beginning to think that new tools like Google news can help<br \/>\nus stay involved, make sense of the world, and ultimately, hold the<br \/>\nrepresentatives we send to office accountable for their<br \/>\nactions.<\/p>\n<p \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unhappy with the  mainstream media these days?
